2019 Jurassic Park Chenin Blanc

Vineyards: From the famous X2 block at Jurassic Park, these own-rooted vines were planted in 1978 on sandy limestone soils in the coastal Santa Ynez Valley.

Winemaking: The grapes went directly to press and the juice was fermented with native yeast in neutral 500L oak puncheons, underwent full ML fermentation and was aged for 11 months on lees. The wine was bottled unfined & unfiltered with minimal SO2.

Notes: The 2019 Chenin captures the energy and verve of these low yielding old vines with a rare combination of flavor and acidity. The juice was kept pristine, with almost no sulfites needed to preserve freshness. It is explosively aromatic, high acid and fully stimulating on the palate with intensity and drive. It showcases the purity of fruit grown in sand, balanced with a strong but smooth limestone mineral texture.
