2015 Waterhorse Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2015 vintage was one of our more powerful upon release and in many ways is showing as the youngest of the 3 wines we have released from the library. The fruit has changed, but remains vibrant. The nose is singing, but also just beginning to show the classic tertiary notes of cedar and cigar box. The palate, however, has smoothed out in a major way. The concentration of low yields in the vineyard provided ample structure in the wine's youth, making it all the more impressive how the tannins have glassed out. This is also our first vintage without significant whole cluster, so a bit less stem tannin may be contributing to the softness on the palate, and the flavor profile is a bit more classic without the black pepper note of 2013 & 2014. I am quite impressed with how delicate it presents for a vintage that was so powerful in youth.
